Bedford Man Arrested After Domestic Fight

Last updated on Wednesday, October 8, 2014

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford man was arrested after he allegedly twisted his wife’s arm and put her on the ground Tuesday night.

60-year-old Leo Deckard was charged with domestic battery causing injuries and interfering with a 911 call.

Officers were called to the couple's home in the 3300 block of Washington Avenue at 11:44 p.m. after a report of a woman being beaten.

When police arrived they found Leo Deckard standing in the driveway.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley the woman claims the two had been in a verbal argument that turned physical.

"At one point during the argument Mr. Deckard allegedly grabbed the woman's wrist and arm twisting it forcing her to the ground," Parsley says.

The woman complained of body pain and had bruises and scratches on her wrist and arms.

The woman then got up and attempted to call police on the house phone and Deckard allegedly prevented her from making that call.

"The woman was then able to flee the room and use her cell phone to dial 911," Parsley says. "The woman signed a battery affidavit and Mr. Deckard was arrested on charges of domestic battery and interfering with a 911 call."
