(MONROVIA) - Indiana State Police troopers were serving a search warrant at a Monrovia home when shots were fired and a man was taken to the hospital.

According to ISP Public Information Officer Curt Durnil, just before 10:30 a.m. troopers went to a home at 9794 N. Hall Road to serve a search warrant.

The search warrant had been issued from the Morgan County Superior Court.

Just before 10:30 am, officers from the Indiana State Police along with the Morgan County Sheriff's Department knocked on the door, identified themselves as police officers with a search warrant and immediately began hearing movement from within

After an allotted amount of time with no answer, officers entered the home to preserve evidence that could have been destroyed. Once inside, officers heard gunfire and subsequently returned fire.

One person, a white male reportedly in his late 50's, was injured by gunshots and taken to a hospital for treatment.

There were no law enforcement injuries.

The investigation is underway and will continue with updates to follow.
