Run For The Animals At B-Line Trail Saturday

(BLOOMINGTON) - More than 300 people and dozens of dogs are expected to participate in Saturday’s Run for the Animals, at which people will participate in a 5K run/ walk or a 1-mile family fun dog walk along the B-Line Trail.

The 19th annual event, a fund-raiser for the Monroe County Humane Association, will begin on the south side of Country Club Drive at the Rail Trail parking lot.

Participants are encouraged to collect donations from friends, family and co-workers to help support MCHA's mission to Protect, Advocate and Educate for Animal Welfare. Proceeds from this event account for 15% of the association's annual budget.

The 5K run will be timed by the Indiana Running Company. First place male and female will both receive a trophy and a prize pack and can run next year for free. First place boy and girl will both receive a trophy and prize pack including free entrance to the 2015 Run for the Animals.

The 5K run will begin at 10 a.m. followed by the 5K walk and 1 mile family/dog fun walk.

Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for children 12 and under. Registration includes a t-shirt.

Early packet pick up/late registration will be Friday from 3 p.m. till 8 p.m. at the MCHA office at 3410 S Walnut Street.

Day of registration will be from 8 a.m. till 9:30 a.m. at the B-Line Trail.
