(BLOOMINGTON) - A 17-year-old male has been arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred on the B-Line Trail on July 28.

He is being charged with theft for an unrelated incident where he allegedly stole various items from three stores in College Mall earlier in the day on September 8th.

He is being held at the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center where he will remain until a hearing can be held in Monroe County Juvenile Court.

According to Bloomington Police Capt. Joe Qualters, in the July robbery incident, a female riding her bicycle on the B-Line Trail reported that a black male stepped out in front of her bike forcing her to stop. He was then joined by two others and she was ordered to the ground at gunpoint and various items were stolen from her including a cell phone.

The males then fled the area. Police later determined after talking to the juvenile arrested that the weapon used in that robbery was a BB gun.

The male was arrested Monday after Bloomington Police were called to investigate the theft of a purse at Bloomingfoods in the 300 block of West Sixth Street. The woman reported that she had placed her purse on a chair and then two black male took the purse and fled. A friend of the woman's then gave chase. They fled north down the B-Line Trail.

One of the teens was detained by police near West 8th Street and the B-Line Trail. The other was found hiding behind a shed on West Cottage Grove Avenue, just north of the trail. The second teen still had the woman's purse.

A 15-year-old was charge with the theft and taken to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center. The second juvenile was not charged in that case, but detectives did determined that he was responsible for the July incident on the B-Line Trail.

The investigation continues into whether either, or both, of the juveniles may be involved in the B-Line robbery that took place on July 24, where a male victim was stopped and robbed while on his bicycle.
