Free Car Seat Clinic Thursday

(BEDFORD) - St Vincent Dunn Hospital will be hosting a free car seat clinic to help parents and caregivers determine if their child car and/or booster seats are properly installed in their vehicles on Thursday from 10 a.m. Until 2 p.m. at Dr. Agarwal and Dr. Faget’s office.

This event is in conjunction with the National Child Passenger Safety Week and supported by the Automotive Safety Program, Indiana University School of Medicine.

St. Vincent Dunn Hospital shared these facts:

Many parents are surprised to learn their child's safety seat or booster seat is not correctly installed.
In Indiana, vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death for kids between the ages of 8 and 15.
For safety, children under 13 years old should ride in the back seat of a vehicle.
If parents or caregivers can't stop by during our free clinic, they can visit childseat.in.gov for a list of year-round child safety seat locations. They can also call 1-800-KID-N-CAR to speak with experts about the proper installation of child safety seats.
In a car crash, child safety seats reduce the likelihood of an infant being killed by 71 percent and a toddler by 54 percent. In an SUV, pickup, or van, child safety seats reduce the likelihood of death by nearly 59 percent.
