Last updated on Wednesday, September 3, 2014

(DUBOIS CO.) - The Dubois County Solid Waste District is sponsoring a Tire Recycling Day on Monday, September 15 from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Tires from Dubois County residents will be accepted and recycled for a per tire fee. Fees are as follows: car/light truck- $2, 18-24"- $8, over 24"- $15, farm/tractor- $22. Any tire on the rim, add $2.

In addition to being unsightly, tires are a fire hazard as well as a breeding area for disease-carrying mosquitoes. Residents are encouraged to clean up their properties and recycle tires that have been around awhile. No appointment is needed, but the gates will close promptly at 7 p.m. on Monday, September 15 and tires will not be accepted without payment.

The event takes place at the Solid Waste District's Process Center, located at 1103 South 350 West, just outside of Jasper. Residents can call the office at 812-481-7040 for additional information on the event. District info is also available at duboiscountyin.org.
