(NASHVILLE) - A Brown County woman has died from her injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Bartholomew County on Sept. 15.

According to the Marion County Coroner's office, 38-year-old Melissa A. Smith of Nashville passed away on Tuesday afternoon.

Smith was taken from Columbus Regional Hospital by ambulance to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. They attempted to transfer her by Lifeline helicopter but the weather was bad.

According to a Columbus police report, Smith was traveling north on County Road 300 West in Bartholomew County in a 1997 Buick Century when she pulled into the intersection of State Road 58 and collided with a 2003 Mercury Mountaineer driven by 43-year-old Shelby Shipley of Columbus.

Shipley complained of pain and was taken to Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment and was treated and released.

Smith, the daughter of Floyd and Sandy Smith, was a 1994 graduate of Brown County High School. She worked at NTN in Columbus.
