Bedford Woman Suffers Pain After Crash

Last updated on Thursday, September 11, 2014

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford woman was injured after a two-vehicle crash at Mitchell Road and 25th Street Wednesday afternoon.

According to a Bedford Police report, 35-year-old Shannon Jones of Bedford told police she was traveling south in the right hand lane on Mitchell Road to go to Arby's when a 2000 Dodge Caravan, driven by 34-year-old Sarah Roberts, pulled out from the east side of 25th Street into the path of her 2004 Chrysler Sebring.

Roberts, of Bedford, told police she had checked both ways before pulling across Mitchell Road and thought it was safe to proceed. Roberts told police that while she was crossing she looked down to look for a bottle and the next thing the two vehicles had collided.

But according to a witness, Jones had pulled from the Dunn Plaza parking lot into the path of Roberts' vehicle. When Jones was confronted with that allegation she told police that she was traveling south on Mitchell Road and had turned onto Mitchell Road at 18th Street. Roberts couldn't tell police which direction Jones was coming because she was looking down for a bottle.

Jones complained of neck pain. Roberts was not injured during the incident.

Jones was cited into court for being an unlicensed driver.
