Bedford Police Officer Injured In Accident

(BEDFORD) - A Bedford Police officers was injured Sunday morning after a Springville teen ran a stop sign at the intersection of I and 17th streets.

33-year-old Bedford Police officer Timothy Chen complained of back pain following the incident.

According to a Bedford Police report, 17-year-old Ivy Goen was traveling north on I Street at 12:12 am. and had stopped her 2000 Chevrolet at the stop sign and didn't see any vehicles approaching and proceeded through the intersection at 17th Street.

Goen's vehicle collided with a 2008 Ford Explorer sport utility police vehicle, driving by Chen, who was traveling east on 17th Street.

Goen's Chevrolet struck the side of the police vehicle, causing the Explorer to spin 180 degrees before it stopped in the westbound lane of 17th Street.

Goen was cited for disregarding a stop sign.
