(BEDFORD) - A 79-year-old Bedford man suffered head and hip injures after he was hit by a car while crossing the street Tuesday morning.

According to a Bedford Police report, Frederick Bruhy of Bedford was crossing the road at H Street when he was struck by a 2004 Ford driven by 38-year-old Bridet Stillions of Bedford.

According to a Bedford Police report, Stillions was stopped on16th Street, facing west at the H Street intersection. At the same time, Bruhy was stopped on the southwest corner of the intersection and was preparing to cross the street.

The traffic signal changed to green as the crosswalk signal changed to "walk."

Bruhy was crossing H Street, walking east, when Stillions began turning left onto H Street, from 16th Street.

The vehicle struck Burhy, knocking him to the ground.

Burhy suffered severe bleeding to his head and bleeding to his left hand and left elbow. He also complained of hip pain.

He was taken by a Seals ambulance to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital for treatment.

The officer noted in his report that he observed the light pattern for the stop light and pedestrian cross walk and determined that when the east/west bound traffic lights change to green, the east/west bound crosswalk signal changes to "walk".
