Woman Crashes Car, Goes To Jail

(SPRINGVILLE) - A Bloomington woman was arrested after she crashed her 1996 Toyota Camry at the intersections of Bedford and Brick streets in Springville.

According to a Lawrence County Police report, 37-year-old Michelle Griffin was traveling east on Bedford Street when she told police the "took the corner" too fast and ran off the road and struck a tree. The vehicle then struck a second tree stump and then spun 180 degrees stopping facing west.

Griffin complained of lower arm pain.

Police say Griffin was intoxicated and blew a .11 on a portable breathalyzer and she did not have insurance. She was arrested on a charge of operating a vehicle endangerment.


Assisting at the scene were Perry Volunteer Fire Department first responders and Bedford Fire Department.
