(MORGANTOWN) - The Indiana Department of Transportation has routed State Road 252 traffic from the south half to the north half of the bridge that is under construction at Long Run Creek on the west side of Morgantown.

The traffic switch marks a midway point for the project to replace the 1930s-era bridge with a new, wider three-span concrete structure 116 feet long.

Crews from Duncan Roberson of Franklin, the state's contractor for this $940,290 INDOT Seymour District bride project, have completed building the north half of the structure.

Now that the single-lane traffic has been shifted, demolition has begun on the south half of the bridge.

Single-lane access will continue to be controlled by traffic signals at both ends of the bridge. A 35 mph speed limit is in effect. Wide loads (wider than 10 feet) are being detoured via S.R. 252/S.R. 135 to S.R. 44 to S.R. 37.
