(DUBOIS CO.) - Many of the individuals arrested in a county-wide drug bust in Dubois County as part of "Operation Big Brother" an undercover drug buy operation are still sitting in jail, including a Paoli man.

The 16 were arrested on June 5, at the culmination of an 11-month operation. They were arrested after informants purchased about $5,700 in drugs, including meth, heroin, schedule II, III and IV controlled substances and look-a-like drugs.

The 16 individuals have jury trials scheduled. The Dubois Co. Free Press reports, five have posted bond, several have asked for work release and some are requesting the names of the informants who worked with police putting them in jail.

According to Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Beth Sermersheim although jury trials are scheduled, the prosecutor's office is negotiating some plea bargains with the defendants.

The office plans on releasing updates as each case is completed.

The day of the raids, 50 officers from the Dubois County Sheriff's Department, the Indiana State Police, the Jasper Police Department, the Huntingburg Police Department, the Ferdinand Police Department, Indiana Conservation Officers, and the Indiana State Parole Office came together to form the task force. Dubois County Dispatch and Child Protective Services also assisted in the raid, as well as EMS personnel who were on standby during that time.
