(SEYMOUR) - A Seymour native recently took command of a Norfolk, Virginia-based submarine squadron.

Capt. Paul Snodgrass was named commander of Submarine Squadron Six on August 1 during a change of command ceremony on board the Los Angeles-class attack submarine USS Montpelier at Naval Station Norfolk.

The 1985 Seymour High School graduate is responsible for staffing, training and equipping the squadron's eight submarines so they can deploy and support U.S. military operations around the globe.

47-year-old Snodgrass now has more than 1,000 personnel under his command.
