Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum Offering Blacksmithing Lessons

Last updated on Friday, August 8, 2014

(SOLSBERRY) - Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum, in Solsberry, will kick off their weekend workshops with blacksmithing lessons.

The blacksmithing workshop will teach participants to forge their own set of tongs and create a sculpture or functional object.

Earlier this summer, Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum Co-Founder Gerry Masse, Jr. explained that the Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum Weekend Workshops Program, which will kick off Aug. 16, will educate participants about many forms of art including photography, painting, welding, and weaving. Cast aluminum sculpture, hand-built ceramics, metal sculpture basics, and drawing workshops are also scheduled.

The first weekend workshop will be a two-day event on Aug. 16 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

People of all ages and experience levels are welcome at any of the weekend workshops, but each event is limited to a small number of participants. All bookings are first-come, first served. You may register at the Sculpture Trails website.

Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum is located deep in the woods amongst the rolling hills of Solsberry. The Museum's Mission is to bring Outdoor Sculpture and Art Education to the community through various hands-on sculpture workshops, services and programs.

Founded in 2002, Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum has grown to proudly display over 60 large-scale sculptures by artists from around the world. The museum continually reviews work and offers many sculpture workshops and career development opportunities for artists.
