Man Wanted In Two States Flees Police

(BLOOMFIELD) - A man wanted on felony warrants both in Lawrence County,and in Kentucky took off running after a traffic stop in Bloomfield Wednesday.

According to Bloomfield Deputy Marshals Jordan Allor and Anthony Bowers gave chase but were able to apprehend 31-year-old Thomas Shaffer III, of Terre Haute.

Bowers, who was off-duty spotted around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday and knew he was wanted on a warrant. Bower called for backup and Deputy Allor attempted to stop Shaffer on a traffic violation in the area of State Roads 54 and 57 west of Bloomfield.

After Shaffer stopped, and officers were in the process of checking on the status of warrants, Shaffer took off on foot. Both officers followed. They caught up with Shaffer and ordered him to stop or he would be tased.

Shaffer ignored the warning and Deputy Allor deployed his taser.

Shaffer was arrested and taken to the Greene County Jail.

In addition to the two warrants Shaffer is now facing additional charges of resisting arrest and criminal mischief.
