Last updated on Thursday, August 28, 2014

(WORTHINGTON) - A Worthington man was arrested after he allegedly threatened a woman with a knife after she had the family cat neutered.

According to Worthington police, officers were called to a local bank Friday afternoon after an elderly woman had told the caller that 35-year-old Curtis Freeman had threatened her with a knife.

The woman told police Freeman was upset because the caller had taken the cat to a veterinary clinic to be neutered and that Freeman told the elderly woman that he was going to kill her and the cat.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officers went to the veterinary clinic and found Freeman and his 84-year-old relative sitting in the lobby. When the officer approached they noticed Freeman stick his hand in the woman's purse and believed he dropped a knife inside her purse.

The officer took the elderly woman outside to speak with her. The woman told police that Freeman had threatened to cut her and then pulled a knife on her waving it in her face while threatening to kill the cat that she had arranged to have neutered.

The elderly woman did admit to telling the caller that Freeman had threatened her, but if they were going to arrest to wait until after September because that was when Freeman would be off parole.

Police then spoke to Freeman who denied threatening the elderly woman with a knife. He did admit he was upset about the cat being neutered.

Police arrested Freeman on two felony charges of intimidation.

Officers did discover an 8-inch fixed-blade Frost Cutlery knife in the woman's purse.

During the arrested Freeman also threatened to harm one of the police officers saying he was going to come for him when he got out of jail.

On the way to jail, Freeman told police he couldn't believe they were arresting him and promised not to do anything to the elderly woman or cat. he also if they released he offered to trade information for his release.

Freeman told police he had an anger management problem and had asked the county prosecutor for help but he refused because he doesn't like Freeman.

He also told police he was going to beat these charges and that the only reason he had put the knife in the woman's purse was because he knew if officers found it on him it would look bad.
