Man Arrested After Reporting That He Molested Numerous Minors

Last updated on Wednesday, August 20, 2014

(BLOOMFIELD) - On Monday, the Greene County Prosecutor’s Office filed 11 new felony charges against 27-year-old Steven B. Kristler of Worthington.

Kristler is facing two felony counts of child molesting involving a victim under 14-years-old, eight felony counts of child molesting and one count of sexual misconduct with a minor.

Prosecutor's Office Investigator Julie Criger received a letter from Kristler on March 20, while he was incarcerated at the New Castle Correctional Facility on a petition to revoke a suspended sentence resulting from a conviction of sexual misconduct with a minor.

In the letter, Kristler admitted to molesting four boys under the age of 14 during the past year.

Criger, Kristler and his attorney met at the Greene County Sheriff's Department on March 31.

During that meeting, Kristler allegedly admitted to having inappropriate sexual contact with several male and female children at locations in Worthington and Linton between 2007 and 2013.

Kristler told officials he was admitting to the crimes because "I can't sleep at night, have nightmares about it, uh, just memories, I ain't going to be able to get better if I don't do nothing about it."

He continued, saying "if I do something about it now then I can go back to prison and recuperate with the classes and do my classes and try to get out even though it looks like I'm facing a lot more years than 25 straight years now, but I'll deal with it."

In April, Criger received a second letter from Kristler in which Kristler admitted to molesting four more victims.

Again officials met with Kristler, who admitted to molesting a 13-year-old female repeatedly during a month period when he was 18 or 19 at locations in Jasonville. He also disclosed details about molesting other victims.
