Last updated on Monday, August 11, 2014

(LINTON) - 24-year-old Shane Denman was arrested on charges of strangulation and domestic battery after police say he dragged a woman down a hallway by her hoodie on August 1.

Police arrived at the home after the woman called 911. Officers found the woman sitting outside of the Linton home with large red marks on the side of her neck.

The woman told police the marks were where Denman had allegedly dragged her down a hallway by the hood of her sweatshirt. The woman also told police she was suffering severe back pain and was taken to the Greene County Hospital by a friend.

Denman had left the home after the confrontation and returned to find police there.

According to a police report, Denman was upset with the woman and began hitting her in the chest and then grabbed her by the shoulders and threw her down on the bed and then throw some of her clothing in the yard. He then pushed her down the hall and wrapped a shower curtain around her neck and grabbed her hair, banging her head off of the hot water faucet shut off.

Denman then grabbed her hair and her hoodie and dragged her down the hallway, kicking her and banging her head off the walls on the way to the front door. The woman added that she had a mark on her left wrist from Denman slamming the screen door shut on her, and that she landed on her tailbone on the steps when he threw her out of the front door.

Police say the woman suffered red marks and abrasion on the right side of her neck, on her upper chest and shoulders as well as the back of her neck, bruises on the tops and bottoms of both wrists, and red marks and bruising to both knees. She also had finger marks on her upper leg and knots behind each ears.

Denman was arrested and was scheduled to appear in Greene Circuit Court on Friday.
