IU To Explore Impact Of World War I

Last updated on Friday, August 1, 2014

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University plans to spend the upcoming academic year exploring the lingering impact of World War I.

Former U.S. Sen. Richard Lugar and former U.S. Rep. Lee Hamilton are joining a round-table discussion on Nov. 4. Ambassadors from the countries involved in the war -- including Austria and Hungary -- also have been invited to participate.

IU President Michael McRobbie says that the effects of WWI continue to reverberate around the globe, from modern warfare to political extremism.

The school's Bloomington campus is also planning to screen movies about the war, host a concert and lead tours of war-related art at its museum.
