Last updated on Thursday, August 28, 2014

(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University-Bloomington campus this year’s freshman class has the highest average GPA in the school’s history.

The average student has a GPA of 3.73.

IU also accepted more students this year than ever before, resulting in a freshman class of more than 7,700 students, with a 10 percent increase in Hispanic/Latino enrollment and a 7 percent increase in African American enrollment.

IU Vice Provost for Enrollment Management David Johnson says those numbers are the result of campus-wide efforts to recruit students.
