INDOT To Refurbish Reflective Pavement Markers

Last updated on Friday, August 22, 2014

(UNDATED) - Indiana Department of Transportation’s Seymour District is refurbishing the reflective pavement markers that help define travel lanes for motorists who drive interstate highways during dark nighttime hours.

In all, 38,633 new prismatic reflector lenses will be installed on Interstate 64, I-65, I-74, I-264 and I-274 from Indianapolis to Louisville to Cincinnati--beginning Sunday night on I-65 starting at the Johnson-Marion County line, weather permitting.

INDOT officials urge drivers to be alert for lighted message boards that direct traffic around moving worksites in the southbound lane of I-65 between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

M.A.S. Markers, Inc., of Lebanon is INDOT's contractor for this $200,672 District Pavement Markings project--which includes replacement of 580 snowplowable RPM lens receptacles. Its crews will be working night shifts through late September along these routes:

Reflector refurbishing will also be done on State Road 37 in Monroe County.
