(WASHINGTON CO.) - 33-year-old Jeremy Hall of French Lick was arrested and charged with reckless homicide in connection with the death of Alisha Riggs.
Riggs, of Hardinsburg, was killed on November 5, 2013 in a crash on U.S. 150, just west of North Road.
According to an Indiana State Police report, Hall was traveling west in a 2005 Mercury Sable on U.S. 150 and was attempting to pass a vehicle when he pulled into the eastbound lane to make the pass and collided with a 1999 Ford passenger car driven by Riggs head-on.
27-year-old Riggs, the mother of two small boys, was on her way to work. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Hall was transported by helicopter to the University of Louisville Hospital with serious injuries.
Witnesses told police they had observed Hall driving erratically for some time, saying he had been tailgating motorists and was "all over the roadway," according to the probable cause affidavit.
Hall told police he had just come from the methadone clinic in Jeffersonville when the accident happened.
Toxicology reports showed Hall had methadone in his system. Methadone is a synthetic opiod used to treat opiod addiction and for chronic pain management.
Hall could not explain why he was driving as he was, saying he normally does not drive like that and may have been a little tired or running a little late.
