(DRIFTWOOD) - Indiana Conservation officers arrested five men on public indecency, charges at Driftwood Public Fishing Area.
Officers, after recent complaints, stepped up patrols on several DNR State properties this summer. In this operation, officers targeted the Driftwood Public Fishing area on State Road 31, near Edinburg.
Utilizing plain-clothes officer, officers encountered and arrested people who allegedly exposed themselves or fondled the plain-clothes officer.
Everyone that was arrested, were also ejected from all DNR properties for a year.
Arrested were:
62-year-old Mart Dobbs of Edinburg on charges of public indecency, public nudity, battery.
64-year-old Ronnie W. Jones of Franklin, on charges of public indecency, public nudity, battery.
64-year-old John I. Kimbler of Indianapolis, on a charge of public indecency.
42-year-old Matthew L. Nichols of Greenwood, on a charge of public indecency.
63-year-old Barry J. Hearin of Franklin, on a charge of public indecency.
Indiana Conservation Officers routinely patrol the state's DNR properties in an effort to ensure the safe use of their facilities and natural resources. First Sergeant Jeff Barker adds, "One of our primary goals is to make all of our DNR properties safe and family friendly. This type of illicit behavior does not fit within that goal." Citizens are urged to report suspicious or criminal activity by calling Indiana Conservation Officers' Central Dispatch at 812-837-9536.
Three men, two from Franklin, one from Indianapolis, were arrested in Bartholomew County on Tuesday by officers with the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. All three are facing charges, including public indecency.
According to a report from the Bartholomew County Jail, the three men were arrested at the Driftwood Fishing and Wildlife Area in Edinburgh at approximately 4 p.m. The specifics of the arrests were not immediately available.
Arrested were:
64-year-old Ronnie W. Jones of Franklin is facing preliminary charges of battery resulting in bodily injury, public nudity near a school or park and public indecency/indecent exposure. Jones was released on $15,000 bond.
64-year-old John I. Kimbler of Indianapolis is facing a preliminary charge of indecency/indecent exposure. Kimbler was released on $5,000 bond.
63-year-old Barry J. Hearin of Franklin is facing a preliminary charge of indecency/indecent exposure. Hearin was released on $5,000 bond.
