County Employees Gain Long-Term Disability Plan

(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County employees will see a drop in their out-of-pocket expenses for health care beginning in August.

Miles Parker, of Parker Group told the commissioners he was able to negotiate a 1 percent decrease in the maximum budget cost for the county. With that came a reduction in deducible for employees from $5,000 to $3,000 for individuals and $10,000 to $6,000 for families.

Rates held for the dental and vision plan.

The commissioners also voted to add a long-term disability plan with employees receiving 68 percent of their earnings.

A wellness screening program was also added. The screenings will begin in November.
