(BLOOMFIELD) - Two people and a four-month-old infant were sent to IU Health Bloomington Hospital after a vehicle went off the road, into an embankment and rolled onto its top Wednesday morning in eastern Greene County.
The crash occurred before 9 a.m. on State Road 45 South two miles north of State Road 58 East.
According to a police report, 25-year-old Zachary Williams, of Indianapolis, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet Impala southbound on State Road 45 with two passengers, 22-year-old Destiny Baker and an infant.
Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Harvey Holt reported the front tire of the car left the roadway causing the vehicle to travel down the edge of the roadway into an embankment then roll over onto its top.
The driver and passenger got out of the vehicle with assistance.
A window was broken out in order to remove the child from the rear.
A witness says the child was laying on the rooftop and was not in a restraint when removed from the vehicle.
Police say the child had an infant carrying chair but no base to properly secure it to the restraints.
The child was transported to IU Health Bloomington for evaluation.
Williams was not injured, but Baker complaints of pain to the leg and hip.
Holt reported the Williams' driver's license was suspended and he was cited for the improperly restrained child.
The Center Township Volunteer Fire Department also responded to assist on the scene.
