Delaney Park Board Member Arrested On Battery Charges

(SALEM) - A member of the Delaney Park Board was arrested and has been charged with battery in connection with an altercation at a bar on the square.

59-year-old Lester Sowder was arrested on July 20 after police were called by Sowder's niece Jamie Sowder, reporting her uncle had attacked her at Misfits Bar, on the square.

According to a probable cause of affidavit, Jamie alleges she and her uncle had exchanged words and then her uncle grabbed her from behind and "put her in a choke hold."

Police say Jamie Sower had red marks around her neck.

Lester Sowder was arrested, but was released on his own recognizance.
