(BLOOMFIELD) - Postal customers in the Bloomfield area have been the target of mailbox vandalism.
According to Bloomfield Postmaster Mindy Pemberton, mailboxes are considered federal property and those vandalizing them could face a $250,000 fine and up to three years in jail for each act of vandalism.
Pemberton says those who are victims of mailbox vandalism need to report the incident to police and their postmaster, who will then report the crime to the Postal Inspection Service.
Anyone with information about the recent vandalism is asked to call police and their postmaster.
