Two Charged With Morgan County Burglaries

Last updated on Monday, July 28, 2014

(MARTINSVILLE) - Two people were arrested after allegedly burglarizing three homes, stealing weapons, and other items including a Bloomington Police officer’s badge, weapon, gun belt and bullet-proof vest.

Police arrested 22-year-old Latisha Anne Marie Simpson and 31-year-old Matthew Dale Wilson of Bloomington.

On Thursday afternoon, police received a report about the burglaries and a witness was able to give police a description of the vehicle, along with a license plate number, that they saw leaving a neighboring home.

The same two are facing additional charges in Monroe County for an unknown number of burglaries -- including burglarizing the home of a Bloomington Police officer on Tuesday, stealing a badge, weapon, gun belt and his vest.

The vehicle was located and the pair was taken into custody.

The Morgan County Sheriff's Department says 16 weapons were found in the car, including rifles and handguns along with several other items stolen from the homes. The officer's vest and gun belt were not recovered.

Simpson was charged with burglary, theft and receiving stolen property, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a syringe and carrying an unlawful handgun

Wilson is facing charges of burglary, theft and receiving stolen property, possession of precursors and carrying an unlawful handgun.
