Three Candidates File For North Lawrence School Board

(BEDFORD) - Three candidates, all in the North Lawrence Districts, have filed to run for the school board.

Benjamin C. Kimmel, and Kristen Collier have had filed for North Lawrence District 1 and Bob Evans has filed his candidacy for North Lawrence District 2.

This fall, two positions in District 2 (Marion Township) of the Mitchell Community Schools and Districts 1, 2, 3 and 5 of the North Lawrence Community Schools are up for grabs.

The first day to file a declaration as a write-in candidate for school board is Aug. 6. The last day to file for school board is Aug. 22 at noon.

The Indiana School Boards Association will host candidate forums to inform new candidates and incumbents about the role of a board member. The first is Wednesday at Seymour, and the second is Aug. 7 in Jasper. Topics that will be discussed include the roles and responsibilities of being a school board member.

Informational flyers are available at the Lawrence County Voter Registration Office, Room 11, in the Lawrence County Courthouse.
