The Boogie Officially Opens Today

(SPRINGVILLE) - The Boogie officially opens today.

More than 10,000 motorcycle enthusiasts are expected to enter Lawrence County Recreational Park near Springville this weekend to attend The 34th ABATE of Indiana Boogie.

ABATE of Indiana is the nation's largest and most proactive state biker's rights organization with more than 25,000 members.

The Lawrence County Economic Growth Council estimates Those attending the Boogie will bring an estimated $7 million patronizing restaurants, shops and inns this weekend.

Jay Jackson, ABATE's executive director, says the Boogie is much more than motorcyclist gathering for camping, food and fun - it's a family reunion.

Bikers this year will be entertained by the Outlaws tonight - a country/rock group known for "There Goes Another Love Song" and "High Tides."

Here Come the Mummies is the main attraction Friday night. Here Come the Mummies is a funk/R&B band, best known for their live performances in which band members perform in full mummy attire bandages.

Nashville's hard-rockin' Blackjack Billy is billed as Saturday's closing act.
