Spring Mill State Park Hosting Heritage Days This Weekend

Last updated on Thursday, July 31, 2014

(MITCHELL) - Spring Mill State Park invites everyone to Heritage Days this weekend.

On Saturday, August 2, visitors can hear the Music of Donna and Wes Griffin. Come to the Pioneer Village from 1 to 3 p.m. and listen as they play traditional music on the Upper Residence lawn.

Donna plays mountain and hammered dulcimers, and concertina and Wes plays mountain dulcimer and guitar. They play traditional Americana music as well as have fun with more contemporary and original music on folk instruments. They have been playing music for the past 25 years throughout Kentucky and Southern Indiana. They have performed for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources for more than 15 years in parks and campgrounds all over Southern Indiana.

Donna has been an artist-in-residence for the Kentucky Arts Council, Very Special Arts Indiana and the Floyd County Indiana Arts Council, and is a former environmental education resource teacher. Wes worked as an elementary teacher for 27 years and has used the arts throughout his career to motivate and engage his students.

Take time to see these remarkable musicians and enjoy the Park. Check bulletin boards throughout the park for scheduled programs and times for this event filled weekend.

Gate fee applies.
