(BLOOMFIELD) - More details have been released in the murder of Solsberry resident David Lamm. 35-year-old Jason Lee Caldwell is accused of killing Lamm and is facing nine charges in connection to the murder.
According to a probable cause affidavit the murder occurred at the Lamm home on Ingram Road. The death was reported to the Greene County Sheriff's Department around 2 p.m. July 19 after a neighbor found David Lamm's wife lying in the roadway bound with rope and duct tape.
The woman told police she had last talked to her husband on July 18 around 8:30 p.m. and told him she would be home around 11 p.m. Her husband said he would meet her at their home after he took Kevin Caldwell home.
When she arrived home, she was met by Jason Caldwell who had David Lamm's "Judge" pistol, his wallet and two sets of keys. She asked, "Where is David?" and she told police that Caldwell told her "David is gone." Her first thought was that David had been killed because he never would have given Caldwell his gun or wallet.
According to the victim, Caldwell held her at gunpoint and demanded she remove her clothes. He then tied her up with ropes and then duct tape.
Police say Caldwell sexually assaulted the woman, twice, and then asked for her debit card and pin number, gathered more weapons from the home and other items and then fled in the woman's white 2008 Jeep Commander around 8 a.m. July 20.
When police arrived they found Lamm's body, face down behind an abandoned vehicle., Forensic Pathologist Dr. Roland Kohr says Lamm died from a fatal gunshot wound to the face.
According to neighbors, Lamm's wife and both Jason and Kevin Caldwell had been working around Lamm's home days prior to the murder and on Friday, July 19 while David Lamm was cutting grass at a biker's clue in Solsberry. Sometime in the evening hours, David Lamm left Jason Caldwell at Lamm's home while he took Kevin Caldwell to another residence and then returned home.
According to ISP detectives, Caldwell admitted that he was lying in wait for David to return and that he was armed with a .223 rifle he found on Lamm's property. Upon seeing Lamm, Caldwell aimed the gun at Lamm and pulled the trigger striking Lamm in the face while he was sitting in his Jeep. Caldwell then took Lamm from the Jeep and dragged his body to the rear of the vehicle where he took Lamm's wallet, keys and handgun.
Caldwell then went into the Lamm's home and waited for David's wife.
Detectives say Caldwell admitted to raping Lamm's wife.
Caldwell then fled the scene and met two women in the Indianapolis and used Lamm's debit cards for cash advances, sold and traded the guns for drugs; went shopping and stayed in two different hotels in Indianapolis.
Caldwell was arrested by Indianapolis police at an Indianapolis hotel on Monday July 21 .
Jason Lee Caldwell was formally charged with murder, two counts of robbery with a deadly weapon, burglary with a deadly weapon, two counts of rape with a deadly weapon, criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, auto theft and theft.
If convicted, Caldwell could face more than 200 years in prison.
