Last updated on Wednesday, July 9, 2014

(COLUMBUS) - The nose of Columbus Police dog Max is being credited in the arrest of a Vallonia woman over the weekend on drug-dealing charges.

Lt. Matt Myers says police stopped a vehicle on U.S. 31 just north of County Road 400 North Saturday evening because police suspected the driver was driving on a suspended license.

Max arrived at the scene and alerted officers to the presence of drugs. A search of the car revealed multiple plastic baggies containing meth, marijuana and multiple pills - all hidden under the passenger seat.

42-year-old Velma Holcomb was arrested on charges including dealing in meth and a controlled substance, possession of meth, marijuana and a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She was also cited for driving while her license was suspended.
