(OOLITIC) - With school starting next Friday, Oolitic students who walk to Dollens Elementary or Oolitic Middle School will have an easier trek. Crews are currently constructing sidewalks through Oolitic thanks to a $250,000 grant from INDOT under the Safe Routes to School program.
Sidewalks will grace the west side of Hoosier Avenue from Fifth Street to Ninth Street.
The project was four years in the making and was delayed because officials had a hard time acquiring right of way and getting clear land titles.
