Martinsville Principal Resigns After Allegations Of Drunk Driving

(MARTINSVILLE) - The principal of a Martinsville school charged in an ATV crash that injured his passenger has resigned.

Peter Jochim resigned as principal of Central Elementary by choice.

Jochim is charged with reckless driving, a misdemeanor, in the May crash in the 4700 block of West Division Road in Morgantown.

According to police, Jochim was driving a Polaris side by side ATV when he made a sharp left turning causing his passenger 32-year-old Kristina Koons, of Martinsville to be thrown from the vehicle.

Koons - a treacher's aide at the school - suffered head injuries.

Jochim was arrested for operating the ATV under the influence of alcohol.
