(WASHINGTON) - An Illinois man was arrested on charges of attempted child molesting and public indecency.
Washington City Police arrested 26-year-old Stephen Michael Mulkey of Lawrenceville, Illinois.
Police say Mulkey was at Walmart on May 27 and approached a 13-year-old girl in the approached a 13-year-old girl in the store's electronics department, exposed his genitals and allegedly asked the girl to touch him.
Police say the events were caught on surveillance video in the store. According to court documents the video was used to help identify and locate Mulkey.
A probable cause affidavit filed in Daviess Superior Court claims Mulkey admitted to walking through the store with his genitals exposed. He also reportedly admitted to approaching the girl but denied asking her to touch him.
Mulkey was being held in the Daviess County Jail on $7,500 bond.
Mulkey appeared in Daviess Superior Court of an initial hearing where a not guilty plea was entered on his behalf. The court appointed a public defender to represent him. A trail date was set for November 18.
