Linton Couple Suffer Serious Injuries In Crash

(SULLVAN CO.) - A one-car accident on State Road 54 near Dugger left a Linton couple with serious injuries.

According to an Indiana State Police report, 78-year-old Hughie Fink of Linton was traveling west on State Road 54 when for an unknown reason his 1998 Mercury Sable went off the north side of the roadway.

The vehicle then struck a culvert, traveled end over end, and came to stop on its top in a ditch. Fink and his wife 67-year-old Eithel had to be freed from the wreckage by members of the Sullivan and Carlisle Fire Departments.

Both suffered leg and internal injuries. Hughie Fink was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Eithel was taken to Sullivan County Community Hospital.

The crash was investigated by Senior Trooper Tom Hanks. Assisting were IndianaConservation Officers, Sullivan County Sheriff's Office, Sullivan City Fire and Police Departments, Sullivan County EMS, and Carlisle Fire/Rescue.
No citations issued and drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected.
