(BEDFORD) - Superior Court I Judge Michael Robbins will take 90 days in considering the sentencing of 37-year-old Dusten Deckard. Deckard was arrested July 16, 2013 and plead guilty to dealing meth and maintaining a common nuisance.
Deckard's Mother, Gretia Miller, who is caring for Deckard's four children, asked Judge Robbins to place her son on electronic monitoring. She says her son has stopped using drugs since his daughter passed away from neuroblastoma, a cancer, and his wife died from a drug overdose. Deckard's sister also died as a result of a drunken-driving accident. All three deaths happened within three months of each other.
Since March, Deckard has been working with Abodes Inc., in Bloomington, which manages apartments and houses for rent in Bloomington.
Prosecuting Attorney Tim Sledd and Judge Robbins have concerns about Deckard's drug use and his ability to stay clean. Deckard has 90 days to prove to Judge Robbins he can stay clean and change his life
Deckard will be sentenced at 10 a.m. on October 14.
