Jerry Harbstreit Named President Of Indiana Sheriff's Assocation

Last updated on Friday, July 25, 2014

(DAVIESS CO.) - Daviess County Sheriff Jerry Harbstreit, who was the interim president of the Indiana Sheriff’s Association, has been named the new president.

Harbstreit was named president during an emergency meeting at the National Convention after Boone County Sheriff Ken Campbell stepped down from the sheriff's association and resigned as sheriff following reports of an FBI investigation.

At the state convention the executive board went ahead and appointed Harbstreit to fill out Campbell's term as president. Harbstreit is also in line to serve a full term of his own as president of the association.

Harbstreit's tenure as state president will bring some extra visitors to the community.

"We will be hosting a pretty big regional training session in September," said Harbstreit. "They have done some of that session in other parts of the state and people have called it an amazing session. We will have sheriff's, deputies and jail officers from all over southern Indiana for that."
