Couple Discover Body At Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge

(MUSCATATUCK) - A couple discovered a body while walking near the Sandhill Parking lot at Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge in Jackson County Sunday.

According to Indiana Conservation Officers 86-year-old Elmer Bowling of North Vernon died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The couple walking in the area of the Sandhill Parking lot discovered Bowling's body just before noon.

The incident is under investigation, but no foul play is suspected.

Conservation Officers were assisted at the scene by the Jennings County Sheriff's Department, a Muscatatuck Federal Wildlife Officer, Jackson County EMS, and Muscatatuck Refuge Volunteers.
