(BLOOMFIELD) - Both men who are “persons of interest” in the murder of a Solsberry man are in custody.
Jason Lee Caldwell, 35, of Solsberry, was arrested in Indianapolis just before 4 a.m. Monday.
The Indiana State Police announced early Sunday evening that Kevin Vern Caldwell, 41, had been apprehended.
The ISP has been investigating the murder of 54-year-old David Lamm, of Solsberry.
Lamm's body was found at his home in the 8700 block of Ingram Road near Newark.
The ISP reported the Greene County Sheriff's Department had received a 911 call just after 2 p.m. Saturday from someone who reported the murder.
Jason Caldwell was believed to be driving the victim's white 2008 Jeep Commander bearing Indiana truck plate TK121LXK.
Earlier, ISP cautioned that both of the men should be considered armed and dangerous and they asked anyone with information about the homicide or the whereabouts of the vehicle or the Caldwells to call 911.
No additional details about the locations or circumstances surrounding the arrests has been released.
According to the Greene County Daily World, both of the men have serious criminal histories and both are listed on Indiana's Sex and Violent Offender Registry.
Jason Caldwell is considered a sexually-violent predator who is required to register for the rest of his life.
According to the latest information on the Registry, Jason Caldwell resides at 7995 N. Pate Lane, Solsberry, and he is self-employed in gardening and lawn care.
Jason Caldwell first appeared on the Registry on April 14, 1997. He is required to register as a result of two convictions, both in Morgan County, in connection with incidents that occurred over 10 years apart: One conviction on April 14, 1997 for sexual battery, the second conviction on April 24, 2012 for child molesting. According to the Registry, he was sentenced to one year in the first case - not served in the Indiana Department of Corrections (DOC), and seven years in the DOC in the second case.
Those are the two cases that landed him on the Registry, but Jason Caldwell has an extensive criminal history, including numerous other felony convictions. Of those, the following cases sent him to serve time in prison in a DOC facility:
* A conviction, sentenced on January 5, 1999, in Morgan County for theft -- receiving stolen property, a class D felony, sentenced to one year in DOC
* A conviction, sentenced on March 29, 1999, in Morgan County for battery, a class C felony, sentenced to six years in DOC
* A conviction, sentenced on April 15, 2002, in Morgan County for battery, a class C felony, sentenced to eight months and 25 days in DOC
* A conviction, sentenced on April 30, 2003, in Morgan County for burglary, a class B felony, sentenced to six years in DOC
* A conviction, sentenced on March 10, 2005, in Morgan County for burglary, a class B felony, sentenced to five years, 11 months and 29 days in DOC
* A conviction, sentenced on January 22, 2007, in Morgan County for theft-receiving stolen property, a class D felony, sentenced to two years in DOC
* A conviction, sentenced on January 25, 2007, in Morgan County for burglary, a class B felony, sentenced to two years, 11 months and 30 days in DOC
* A conviction, sentenced on February 17, 2011, in Monroe County for theft -- receiving stolen property, a class D felony, sentenced to three years in DOC
* A conviction, sentenced on April 24, 2012, in Morgan County for child molesting, a class C felony, sentenced to six years, 11 months and 30 days in DOC
Note: The amount of time listed in DOC is the amount of time left to serve after the defendant was credited with time already served in a local facility.
According to DOC information, Jason Caldwell is currently on parole from DOC, under the jurisdiction of the Terre Haute Parole District.
Kevin Vern Caldwell, 41, is listed on the Indiana Sex and Violent Offender Registry as a sex offender who is required to register for the rest of his life.
Kevin Caldwell is required to register as a result of a conviction in Greene County on October 18, 2011 for sexual misconduct with a minor, a class C felony.
The Registry does not list a home or work address for Kevin Caldwell -- he's been wanted on a warrant for a year.
According to the Indiana Department of Corrections (DOC), Kevin Caldwell was sentenced to serve four years in a DOC facility on the conviction of sexual misconduct with a minor -- his release date was January 24, 2013.
A portion of Kevin Caldwell's sentence was suspended. Following his release from prison, he would have been on probation.
A few months after his release, on July 18, 2013, a petition to revoke the suspended sentence was filed and just about a year ago, on July 23, 2013, a warrant was issued for Kevin Caldwell's arrest.
That warrant was still outstanding, until he was picked up Sunday.
Kevin Caldwell has other more minor entries on his criminal record, including a conviction for possession of marijuana in Monroe County in 2010.
In Owen County, Kevin Caldwell is wanted on a warrant to revoke probation in a case dating back to 2011 in which he was initially charged with resisting law enforcement and driving while suspended. In that case, court records indicate official paperwork sent to Caldwell by mail was returned unserved, not deliverable as addressed. The address listed was a rural route and box in "No Town, IN 00000." Another warrant for his arrest was then issued out of Owen County on August 1, 2013.
Kevin Caldwell is also wanted on a Writ of Attachment issued out of Morgan County.
