Boo Boo The Emu Escapes And Corners Woman And Child

(WASHINGTON) - Washington City police received some unusual calls Sunday afternoon.

A resident on Ind. 57, north of Viola Avenue called reporting a large bird, which they described as an ostrich or emu was in their yard.

When police arrived to the n the subdivision Shirley McCafferty, who owns the bird told officer Boo Boo the Emu had escaped out of his pen.

McCafferty told police the bird would not harm anyone, but police had received another call reporting Boo Boo had chased a woman and child into a garage. Neither were injured.

The woman called for Boo Boo, who then followed McCafferty's home.

MCCafferty was warned about the city's ordinance about animals running at large.
