(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Farmer’s Market is celebrating both on the downtown square and at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds this week.
"The Bedford Farmers' Market is grateful to Indiana University Health Bedford Hospital for sponsoring a booth at the 4-H Fair in the expo hall. The hospital is helping the Farmers' Market reach more people with exposure at the fair," said Nancy Rainey, promotions director for the market. "At our booth we have garden veggies, homemade jams using local fruits and craft items ranging from tie-dyed baby clothing and ceramics to crocheted and sewn goods. Stop past the booth and sign up for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate which can be used at our local Bedford Farmers' Market."
The main market is from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday on the west side of the square, and the Tuesday market is from 3-7 p.m. in Harp Commons.
Gardens are full now of vegetables. Cucumbers, zucchini, onions, potatoes, beets, peppers,cabbage, kale and greens are plentiful, and now tomatoes are coming on. Beans are still being harvested and corn is ripe. Fresh herbs coming to market are basil, thyme, chives, lovage, dill, oregano and more. Cantaloupe is the fruit currently coming to market, and many vendors who have jams created from fresh fruits. Baked goods at market include homemade fruit pies, cinnamon rolls and quick breads such as banana, zucchini and persimmon.
Arts and crafts abound, with local clay pie plates, pirate mugs, and Americana jugs and bowls, wood crafts, tie-dyed t-shirts and dresses, candles, jewelry, blankets and much more.
Saturday, the Breastfeeding Coalition will host the guest booth with information, as July is Breastfeeding Awareness Month.

Orleans Market
The Saturday Farmers Market is on Congress Square in Orleans, the "Front Porch of Orange County," from 8 a.m. to noon.
This week visitors will find:
From the home kitchens: brownies, cakes, cookies, muffins, scones, cobblers, pies, yeast bread, yeast rolls, pork rinds, granola, lemonade, tea, jam, jelly, pretzels, banana bread, angel food cake, syrups (shag bark hickory, blackberry, peach, maple, strawberry), peanut brittle, dried peppers and much more.
From the farms and home gardens: beans, beets, broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, carrots, chili peppers (dried and fresh), chard, corn, cucumbers, eggs, eggplant, edible flowers, green beans, herbs, lettuce, onions, sweet peppers, potatoes, radishes, rhubarb; scallions, summer squash, tomatoes, straw bales, turnips, zucchini, beef, pork and chicken.
From the craft people you can expect: leather belts, wallets, bracelets, and bags, purses, aprons, dish towels, baby blankets, quilts, baby products, Amish baskets, wind chimes, memorial flag holders, clocks, wood signs, rustic wood furniture, bird houses, bird feeders, crochet and knit items, jewelry, pillows, iron decorations, walking canes, wood carvings, jewelry boxes, gallery glass art, painted items, carved gourds, painted glass art, pot holders, rugs, soaps, lotions, deodorants, goats milk soap, dog collars and leashes,and puppets.
This weeks family friendly event is a yoga demonstration with Janet Kennedy. The event will be under the shade trees and there is no charge for this event.
Indiana Child Foster Care Services will be on hand to talk about the foster care system. There is a great need in the area for foster parents.
New vendors are welcome, stop by the host tent for information.
The jammers will be playing and a free cup of coffee is available in the host tent. Shop the Buck a Book where every item is $1. Every kid can pick a free book each market day.
French Lick Market
The Tuesday market is at the Scenic Indiana Railway in French Lick from 1:30-5 p.m.
This week guests can expect potatoes, cookies, breads, cucumbers,green beans,green tomatoes, green onions, radishes, sugar snap peas, rhubarb, syrups (shag bark hickory, blackberry, strawberry, peach), peanut brittle, fudge, caramel corn, aprons, pillows, cloth story books, dish towels, pillows, jewelry, leather bracelets, bookmarks, dog collars, scrubbies, hand painted glass art, and much more.

Paoli Market
The Thursday market is in the front parking area of Walmart in Paoli from 2-6 p.m.
This week you can expect, cucumbers, tomatoes, onions, corn, potatoes, beets, lettuce, green beans, sweet corn, syrups (strawberry, blackberry, peach, shag bark hickory), raspberries, trash bag dolls, belts, aprons, puppets, primitive dolls, doll clothes, eggs, chicken, plants, plant starts, breads, pies, and much more.
The markets accept WIC checks and Hoosier Works SNAP cards.
