Last updated on Friday, June 6, 2014

(BLOOMINGTON) - Two men were arrested after the Bloomington Police Department’s Critical Incident Response Team served a search warrant at a home in the 6000 block of West State Road 45 early Wednesday morning.

Officers found two convicted violent offenders in possession of weapons and crystal meth. 44-year-old Kyle Douthitt, of Bloomington, was arrested on preliminary charges of dealing and possession of meth and a controlled substance and possession of a firearm by a serious violent offender.

29-year-old Arcel Smith, of Indianapolis, is facing preliminary charges of dealing and possession of meth and possession of a firearm by a serious violent offender and failure to register as a sex offender. Officers recovered three handguns, one shotgun and drugs.

In May 2006, Douthitt was sentenced to serve eight years with the Indiana Department of Corrections after he pleaded guilty to a charge of armed robbery. He was accused of the entering the Tobacco Town on South Walnut Street in September with a sawed-off shotgun.

The day after the robbery, Douthitt was arrested on charges of intimidation with a deadly weapon and failure to pay child support, after he allegedly pointed a sawed-off shotgun at a man's head and threatening to kill him.

Both men are being held in the Monroe County Jail on bonds of $100,000 surety, $500 cash.
