Town Of Bloomfield Has New Logo

Last updated on Wednesday, June 18, 2014

(BLOOMFIELD) - The town of Bloomfield has a new logo that will be used on advertising, signage, promotional materials and correspondence.

The winner of the contest that was open for designs submitted from the public was announced Saturday morning at the Bloomfield Art Festival.

Aaron May, who works as assistant manager of bank services at Bloomfield State Bank, had the winning entry that was determined by a vote from a panel of three judges along with a vote from the public.

The contest was sponsored by the Bloomfield Chamber of Commerce with a $250 cash prize provided by the Bloomfield Chapter of Psi Iota Xi Sorority.

May, who said he's always had an interest in art and graphic design, said he got his inspiration for the winning entry from the Bloomfield Apple Festival, an annual event conducted every fall. May, who lives in rural Bloomfield, says he had a relative who had an apple orchard, which also caused him to seek an apple-related design.

The contest served as a follow-up to last summer's "Imagine Bloomfield" project. The project's steering committee announced the logo contest last February and entries were to be submitted at the end of May.

The contest drew 23 entries, which were on display at the Bloomfield-Eastern Greene Public Library. Voting was conducted at the Bloomfield Farmer's Market on Friday night. The public vote counted for about 30 percent of the judging points.
