(BEDFORD) - A Bedford teen was arrested after he was involved in a domestic fight with his mother in the 700 block of V Street Wednesday morning.

According to Bedford Police Chief Dennis Parsley, officers were called to the home at 8:50 a.m. after the teen had busted up furniture in the home and then locked himself in his bedroom.

Officers were able to talk the 17-year-old teen out of the bedroom.

"The teen was given a portable breath test that showed he had been drinking," Parsley says. "And his mother confirmed that her son had brought an alcoholic beverage home with him.

After receiving consent from the teen's mother police searched his room and found a metal smoking device.

Probation was contacted and an emergency hearing was held in Circuit Court.

The teen was sent to the Jackson County Juvenile Detention Center in Brownstown on charges of illegal consumption, criminal mischief, a minor in possession of alcohol and drug paraphernalia.
