(UNIONTOWN) - A Seymour man’s night out on the town ended with a trip to jail after he robbed a taxi driver at knifepoint early Friday morning.
The incident happened near Uniontown.
25-year-old Christopher Clayton is facing felony charges of robbery and intimidation. He was arrested at his home in Seymour.
According to Jackson County deputy Jeff Walters, Clayton had been in Louisville visiting nightclubs with friends, who had left him behind.
Clayton found a taxi driver who agreed to drive him to Seymour, where Clayton would get the money to pay for the fare. When the taxi driver came to the Uniontown exit on Interstate 65 at Uniontown, Clayton told the driver they could take that exit as a short cut to his home.
Clayton then ordered the cab driver to pull into a driveway in the 10,000 block of East State Road 150. That is when Clayton allegedly put a knife to the driver's throat, took the cabbie's geographical information system and all his money.
Clayton then fled the vehicle and ran west on State Road 250. The cabbie driver then drove to a service station in Uniontown and called his dispatcher, who then called police.
Officers searched for Clayton and found him at his home. Clayton initially told police he had been fishing in Cortland, but then later admitted to the robbery.
