(BLOOMINGTON) - Practical computer skills are the emphasis of a new school program in Bloomington this month.
The Bloomington Code School, a pilot school, will open June 23.
The money for the program comes from a grant provided by the Community Foundation of Bloomington and Monroe County.
The school will use a curriculum from Treehouse, an online, interactive code-learning platform that teaches web and app development and design.
Any Monroe county resident with a local library card will have free access to Treehouse through the library.
Front End Web Development, Web Design, PHP Development and Rails Development will be offered as mentor sessions Monday through Thursday in the Wicks building downtown at 116 West Sixth Street.
The school is organized for participants to complete about 60 hours of training from Treehouse independently. The participants are also required to meet weekly to work through any questions or difficulties.
