Police Searching For Driver In Fatal Pedestrian Accident

Last updated on Thursday, June 12, 2014

(NASHVILLE) - A driver called police just after midnight June 1 to report a man in dark clothing walking at the edge of State Road 135, north of Nashville near Hurdle Road, in danger of being hit by passing vehicles.

Two hours later, another driver in the area discovered the body of 36-year-old Chad DeMuth of Kentucky. Investigators report that he had been hit by a truck and left for dead.

Brown County detectives need the public's help in finding the driver of the vehicle.

Police say the vehicle that hit DeMuth may be a 1988 to 1997 Chevrolet or GMC truck. It is likely the truck is a C1500 or W/T model with glass sealed beam headlamps. Police say there should be damage to the front of the truck, the headlamp and a mirror.

Investigators are asking anyone who has information to contact the Brown County Sheriff's Office at (812) 988-6655 or by leaving a message on the confidential tip line at (812) 988-6620. Messages on the tip line may be anonymous.
